Learning Assistant (Early Years, Primary)

An outstanding and inspirational Learning Assistant is required to our Early Years & Primary Department at Heritage School.

Job Duties:

  • Actively contribute to the overall mission, vision and values of Heritage International School
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality, data protection etc.
  • Prepare lessons with teachers, contributing to the planning cycle including evaluating and adjusting lessons in response to pupils’ needs
  • Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils’ work
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s policy and procedures to contribute to a purposeful learning environment and encourage pupils to interact and work cooperatively with others
  • Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers by providing daily information in the school’s approved channels, according to school policy
  • Teach whole classes as part of cover provision; this may include short-term cover within any age group in response to teacher absence
  • Assist with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including before and after school and at lunchtimes; assist little ones with eating, dressing and hygiene, as required, whilst encouraging independence
  • Provide information relating to pupil progress for parents, families, teachers and senior leaders upon request and to contribute to assigned pupils’ annual reports at the request of the pupils’ class teachers and SLT
  • Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required and take responsibility for a group where needed
  • Provide clerical/admin support e.g. photocopying, typing, filing, coursework administration etc.
  • Prepare, maintain and use equipment/resources required for lessons and assist pupils in their use
  • Support the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use

Professional Requirements

  • We are seeking professionals with a teaching degree, combined with a minimum of 2 years’ experience of teaching in international schools (in Russia or abroad)
  • Candidates should have proven experience in teaching the relevant age group; are in possession of an up-to-date police clearance certificate
  • Experience with UK National / Cambridge Curriculum would be significant advantage
  • Candidates should demonstrate and promote a well-organized learning environment and a positive approach to students, illustrate a capacity to help students achieve their absolute best and a willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular life of our school
  • Candidates should possess excellent IT skills and interest in embedding ICT into daily classroom experience. We are an Apple Mac-orientated school and utilise touchscreen smart boards in our classes. All candidates should be confident and enthusiastic users of ICT
  • We are expecting for excellent oral and written communication skills - both in English and Russian
  • Candidates should have interpersonal and communication skills, positive personal and professional image, high standards of professional behaviour and ethics; be passionate about their profession and demonstrate proactive attitude and work commitment
