Developing an understanding of the world is one of the principal aims of any school. Understanding humanity and history is a crucial part of this which is often overlooked in favour of more technical and scientific pursuits. Liberal Arts, which is studied by children in Years One and above. In this subject, children study History, Geography and a range of other humanities subjects, but with a critical flavour. Children are encouraged to debate and discuss, and to empathise with the people about whom they are learning. This has the added benefit of preparing learners for options to study humanities subjects at A-Level and at university.
